Summer festival

September already - and I’m still on a high from August!

Artwave Festival was absolutely terrific, with many visitors from far and wide. This August was my third Artwave, and the second time the Let Fire Inspire workshop was an independent Artwave venue - and it was the best yet!

During the festival I held three days of mini-tasters, where students could come and pull stringers and make a dotted bead of their own from scratch. It was a wonderful way of introducing complete beginners to the magic of letting fire inspire at the torch flame - and was such a success that I’m running another day of mini-tasters as part of Chiddingly Artists Open Studios in October!

Since Artwave ended on Sunday I’ve had a busy time turning orders around - I’ve had lots of lovely commissions to get my teeth into, and I’m really enjoying working to a number of client-specific briefs.

You can find out more about Chiddingly Artists Open Studios here - the Let Fire Inspire workshop, several other studios right here at Village Works and more venues in and around the local villages will throwing open their doors for this wonderful and inspiring festival of the arts. Last weekend in September, first weekend in October! My day of mini-tasters is Wednesday October 9th, and you can book your slot below.

Nature's beads

After the (fabulous) chaos of Artwave my feet haven’t really touched the ground - I’m now in the throes of getting my accounting paperwork sorted while getting on with teaching my courses and preparing for my next open studio event over the last two weekends in September!

Even writing that very long paragraph has made me feel as if I need a break!

We had a couple of hours off on this glorious Sunday afternoon, taking the bikes out on a lovely circular trip along the lanes to the next village and back. Late summer (yes, it’s still summer officially until the 20th!) is just so beautiful, with all sorts of gorgeous hedgerow goodies to admire.

These pictures might just nudge me in the direction of berry colours - what do you think?
