These beauties were crafted in the torch flame by Katherine and Carol on their half-day course here at the workshop. The fabulous marbled surface decoration on some of them is down to 'gravity-twisting', which is a deliberate re-formation of the glass using heat and gravity as the tool to 'drag' the outer layer of glass around the circumference of the bead. Unpredictable, great fun and very, very satisfying!
It's been a fabulous start to the week in the workshop - this morning I welcomed Katherine and Carol for a half-day beadmaking course. We worked our way through several designs, with gravity twisting being a fabulously fun design feature.
This morning's snow (okay, not much, but there was some!) made for a chilly commute to work, but gosh this is a lovely toasty place to warm the wintry cockles.
