Official diversion

I treated myself to some glorious ‘me time’ today, and headed out of the Let Fire Inspire workshop for most of my lunchbreak. Mr LFI and I had been meaning to get out and about during the weekend, but what with an assortment of domestic goddessry, house painting and lawnmowing tasks higher on the priority list, we didn’t make it out for a walk.

Oh boy! Today I realised what I’d been missing out on. I’d written on my list:

Artist Date - go for a walk and find 15 signs of spring. Take pictures!

I was on my own, going at my own pace, looking and listening to see what I could find.

I met a ladybird, a squirrel, some incredible birch bolete fungi, hazel catkins, celandines by the stream, crocuses, daffodils, the first leaves of the bluebells we’ll be enjoying in April and May, tiny, tiny nettle leaves and lots and lots of birds.

I bumped into a friend who was busy working on the Community Garden Plot up at the allotments, and we had a super chat about everything and nothing. That was great, too.

Oh, and I got stabbed in the corner of my eye by the end of a twig when I was turning round in the wood. That wasn’t great. No lasting damage, though! #sillybilly

I was out for three quarters of an hour, leaving me time to have my soup when I got back to the workshop - and that time out there, for me, was just what I needed.

The air smells like champagne today - and I got to drink it in! Time out for me? #nailed it
