Let fire inspire

Captivated by the magic of working with glass, Rebecca Weddell creates beautiful and unique lampwork beads and offers a range of beadmaking courses.

Finding a style

I had a fabulous morning in the Let Fire Inspire workshop today - one of my regular torchtimers, Doris, came for a torching session.

Doris had originally come to me with some experience at the torch flame already, having done a course with another tutor far from home. She's local to me, and wanted the opportunity to continue her passion at the torch flame using the set-up in my workshop.

Over the months Doris has amassed a rather lovely collection of beads! You'll notice that where my style is 'little and round', Doris loves to make large, bold, long beads - she has really found her style at the torch, and I absolutely love that!

Doris loves experimenting with bright colours, bold shapes and swirly effects! She's one of my 'torchtimers', meaning she works independently on her own projects at one of my workbenches. I've loved watching her create these gorgeous beads - and I can't wait to open the kiln tomorrow to have a look at the batch of beads she made this morning! Let fire inspire? I rather think so!

Here are the fruits of Doris' labours on Wednesday - aren't they great? Let fire inspire!
